The Tri-District Arts Consortium (Tri-DAC) was formed in 1985 by three schools districts — Lexington 1, Lexington-Richland 5, and Richland 2 — to serve artistically gifted and talented, students in grades 6-9. A pilot summer program held at Columbia College in 1986 enrolled 150 students. Since then, Tri-DAC has grown tremendously. Now serving 380 creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual art students, Tri-DAC has
Tri-DAC (continued) been generously hosted by Columbia College for the past 23 years. 2009, however, begins a new era. Tri-DAC celebrates its 24th year hosted in its new home by the Palmetto Center for the Arts, the Richland District Two Fine Arts Magnet, located on the campus of Richland Northeast High School. This exciting move offers students a chance to work in newly renovated and expanded state-of-the-rt facilities, with twenty-first century technology.
