Creative Writing allows students to maximize their individual creative abilities by working with poetry and prose. Working with leading South Carolina writers, students learn the essentials of creative writing with an emphasis on presentation of the final work. State of the art exercises promote poetry and fiction writing within an encouraging atmosphere.
Creative Writing (cont'd) Students also publish a book of their writing and have the opportunity to showcase their talent on stage. Our alumni have gone on to win awards such as the SC Young Poets Prize, and the State Newspaper single poem contest. In addition to exploring creative writing, writing students interact with students in other art areas gaining new insights as well as enjoying a fun-filled summer program.
